PPT2000: Office Document Is Not Opened When You Follow a Link to It from Slide Show

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows 2000, if you click a hyperlink in a PowerPoint slide show to a Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel file, and Word or Excel is currently open, nothing happens.

NOTE: The link will appear as if it has been followed.

CAUSE

If you click a hyperlink in an Office program, the file that the link refers to is not opened. This is due to a new feature in Microsoft Windows 2000; when you are working in one program, another program will not come to the foreground.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS
