SYMPTOMS

When you create a Web page in Microsoft Home Publishing 2000, a gray background may be displayed around the Web page.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Web page background color is set to gray by default.

RESOLUTION

To change the background color of a Web page:

  1. Start Home Publishing 2000.
  2. Create a Web page. To do this:
    1. Click the E-Mail and Web Projects tab on the left side of the screen.
    2. Click the Web Pages button on the right side of the screen.
    3. Select and then double-click the Web page template that you want to use.
  3. On the File menu, click Preview in Web Browser.
  4. On the View menu, click Source.
  5. Scroll down to the line that contains the following HTML code:

             <BODY background="" bgColor=#c0c0c0 leftMargin=0 topMargin=0>

  6. Click and drag to select the c0c0c0 parameter of the HTML background color attribute.
  7. Type the HTML background color parameter for the background color that you want to use.

To view the parameters for browser-safe colors (colors that are displayed accurately in most Web browsers), visit the following Web site:
  8. On the File menu, click Save.
  9. On the File menu, click Exit.
  10. In your browser window, click View, and then click Refresh.
