SYMPTOMS

Even when Microsoft Outlook is set as your default e-mail program, one or more of the following syptoms may occur:

  • The menu item "Mail Recipient (As Attachment)" is missing on the File, "Send To" menu of Office 2000 programs.
  • The menu item "Routing Recipient" appears on the File, "Send To" menu of Excel 2000, but nothing happens when you click it.
  • The menu item "Exchange Folder" is missing on the File, "Send To" menu of Office 2000 programs even though you connect to a valid Microsoft Exchange Server.
  • The menu item "Routing Recipient" is missing on the File, "Send To" menu of Word 2000.


CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Win.ini configuration file is incomplete.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following two methods to resolve this problem:

Method 1

Add the following entry into the Win.ini file (by using either the plain text editor or the Sysedit utility), under the Mail heading. Some lines may exist, but all are needed for this feature. After you add these lines, reboot your computer:

CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll

MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1
OLEMessaging=1

Method 2

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
