OL2000: Duplicate of Outlook Message Appears After Installing Add-In

SYMPTOMS

When you install an add-in in Outlook and send a new message using that add-in, an orphaned button for the message appears on the Windows taskbar. You can use the button on the taskbar to maximize this window, which appears to be a duplicate message; however, the message is a ghost image and does not function.

This problem occurs with add-ins that access the body property of a message from the OnSubmit event in the Outlook object model.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
