SYMPTOMS

If you use a calculation in a form field that multiplies a field by a decimal, the calculation does not compute, even if you set the calculation to automatically update. The calculation does compute if the number multiplied is not a decimal.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.

MORE INFORMATION

This is a problem in the computing engine. When you enter a formula into a field you can use whole integer values, but if you use decimal values the formula does not compute. This is problem occurs in Outlook 2000 but not in earlier versions.
