SUMMARY
Microsoft PowerPoint does not directly support conversion from Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF is the format in which you view and exchange documents for Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 and Adobe Acrobat Exchange for Windows.
NOTE: These steps only apply to Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.x and not to earlier or later versions.

To convert a PDF document from Adobe Acrobat Reader to Microsoft PowerPoint, follow these steps:
To Select and Copy Text
- Select the text selection tool, and do one of the following:
- To select a line of text, click to select the first letter of the sentence or phrase and drag to the last letter.
- To select multiple columns of text (horizontally), hold down CTRL as you drag across the width of the document.
- To select a column of text (vertically), hold down CTRL+ALT as you drag through the length of the document.
- To select all the text on the page, click Select All on the Edit menu.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- In Microsoft PowerPoint, click Paste on the Edit menu.
NOTE: Text pasted from Adobe Acrobat retains its character-level formatting, for example: fonts, bold, italic, underline, color, and so on. Text does not retain graphics, paragraph formatting, and other formatting when copied to the Windows Clipboard.
Select and Copy Graphics
- With the Graphics Select Tool turned on, drag a rectangle around the graphic that you want to copy. To cancel the selection of the graphic and start over, click anywhere outside the selected graphic.
Note To turn on the Graphics Select Tool, click the Graphics Select Tool icon. When the Graphics Select Tool is turned on, the pointer becomes a crosshair icon.
To turn on the Graphics Select Tool, you may have to click the Text Select Tool and hold down the mouse button until the additional hidden tools appear. With your mouse button held down, drag your pointer over the Graphics Select Tool, and then release your left mouse button.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- In Microsoft PowerPoint, click Paste on the Edit menu.
Note If someone has set the security of the PDF file, you may not be able to select and copy the contents of the PDF document for use in PowerPoint.
