SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade Windows NT Server on a Compaq server to a newer service pack or Compaq Software Support Diskette (SSD), the server may stop booting and display the following error message on a blue screen:

STOP: 0x0000007B
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Compaq array controller contains an outdated firmware (BIOS) version.

RESOLUTION

Download an updated version of the firmware or BIOS for the Compaq array controller. An updated version may be available from the Compaq Web site:
