SYMPTOMS
When you create a new folder in Outlook, the folder inherits the permissions of its direct parent folder.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you create the folder manually, or if you create the folder after you upgrade to a newer version of Outlook.
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
When you upgrade to Outlook 2000 from the Microsoft Exchange client, the following new folders (referred to as special folders) are created:
Calendar
Contacts
Drafts
Journal
Notes
Tasks
These special folders inherit the permissions of the root mailbox folder, which is also known as the Outlook Today folder. The default permission is set to none.
