XL2000: Excel Stops Responding When You Click Help Topic

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel Help, when you search on the keyword "VBA," and then click the Help topic Get Visual Basic Help in Microsoft Excel, Excel may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if all of the following conditions are true:

  • You are running the U.S. version of Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 or Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
  • You perform a custom installation of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium.
  • You accept all of the Office default settings.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
