STOP 0x0000001E Error Message on Windows NT 4.0 with pcANYWHERE Installed

ID: Q248642

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Symantec pcANYWHERE installed, you may receive the following error message (the second parameter varies):

Stop 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0xf3f449f6, 0x00000001, 0x00000003)

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the pcANYWHERE Aw-host.sys file is out of date.

RESOLUTION

Update Aw-host.sys. The 9.0 version of Aw-host.sys can be applied to the 8.x version of pcANYWHERE to solve this problem.

MORE INFORMATION

Symantec technical support recommends that you update the Aw-host.sys file. You can do this by upgrading version 8.x of pcANYWHERE to version 9.0; however, this file is not version dependent.

Symantec advises that if you do upgrade pcANYWHERE, you must remove the earlier version before you install the new version. Otherwise, you receive a Stop 0xc000021A error message when the Awgina.dll file replaces Msgina.dll.
