PI2000: Error Message When You Attempt to Clone a Painting

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Clone Painting tool on the Touchup menu in Microsoft Picture It! 2000, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:

  • Picture

    This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If this problem persists, please contact the program vendor.

    Picture caused an invalid page fault in module Piserver.dll at 0167:2109e960.

    Microsoft Picture It! 2000 -filename: Picture.exe - Application Error

    The instruction at "ox21050282" referenced memory at "0xc100be20". The memory could not be "read".

    Click on OK to terminate the program

    Picture.exe - Application Error

    The instruction at "0x6c371351" referenced memory at "0x0000004". The memory could not be "read".

    Click OK to terminate the program.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you click Customize Settings in the Clone Painting pane, and then click the No Edge paper texture.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, click the None paper texture after you click Customize Settings in the Clone Painting pane.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Picture It! 2000.
