Error Processing Server.uns When Clustering Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 on a Windows 2000 cluster server, Setup does not complete, and generates the following error message:

Processing file 'CD:\SERVER\SETUP\I386\server.uns', at or near line 177
The array bound are invalid.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the resource group that contains the selected disk for the Exchange installation contains more resources than the installer requires. The additional resources may cause problems for the installation process or operability of Exchange Server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, the resource group should have only the following objects in it when you install

  • One or more storage resources.
  • One IP address resource.
  • One network name resource.

NOTE: For best results, do not add additional resources to the desired group prior to installing Exchange Server.
