SYMPTOMS

On an end-user client computer, if you browse to a solution's Web folder in Microsoft Internet Explorer without specifying a page, you may receive the following error message:

You are not authorized to view this page.

You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

If you believe you should be able to view this directory or page, please try to contact the Web site by using any e-mail address or phone number that may be listed on the <server> home page.

You can click Search to look for information on the Internet.

CAUSE

There is no Default.htm page for the solution.

RESOLUTION

Either specify the main page for the solution when you browse to the Web folder, or create a Default.htm page.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. On the Access Workflow Designer server, make note of any Web folder that contains a data access page with the Workflow Toolbar Control. Be sure this Web folder does not have a Default.htm page.
  2. From the end-user client computer, browse to the Web folder that you noted in Step 1. Do not specify the page. For example, instead of specifying:

    http://<server>/<database>/<page name>

    just specify:

    http://<server>/<database>

    Note that you receive the error message mentioned at the beginning of this article.
