SUMMARY

This article describes the items that are installed with the Visual InterDev Server Components.

You can install the Visual InterDev Server Components either by choosing Visual InterDev Server from the Back Office Installation during Visual Studio/Visual InterDev setup or separately by running Setup.exe from the Vid_ss folder on Visual Studio CD-ROM 2 or the Visual InterDev CD-ROM.

Install the Visual InterDev Server components on your Web server computer. If you want to debug stored procedures in Visual InterDev, they must be installed on your Microsoft SQL Server computer.

MORE INFORMATION

The Visual InterDev Server components install:

  • Microsoft JScript and Visual Basic Scripting .dll files version 4.0.0.2926.
  • The data environment .dll file (used for deCommands).

In addition to installing these components, Setup for Visual InterDev Server also checks that you have version 2.0 or later of Microsoft Data Access Components and Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.0 or later. If you do not have those components installed, it will prompt you to upgrade.

Visual InterDev Server Components Setup also registers the Catalog Class COM Component (used for debugging).

The following are some scenarios that require Visual InterDev Server components:

  • Debugging Active Server Pages (ASP) pages in Visual InterDev.
  • Using design-time controls with deCommands.
  • Debugging stored procedures in Visual InterDev.
  • Using Visual InterDev with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe.
