SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98, BoundsChecker 6.2 does not work. When you try to run BoundsChecker, you receive the following error messages:

Wrong Core DLL for this operating system

-and-

BC.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

CAUSE

When you upgrade to Windows 2000 with an earlier version of BoundsChecker (such as version 6.03) installed, Windows 2000 Setup warns you that you should uninstall BoundsChecker before installing Windows 2000. When you upgrade to Windows 2000 with BoundsChecker 6.2 installed, you do not receive the warning. Microsoft has not investigated all versions of BoundsChecker. It is possible that if you do not uninstall earlier versions of BoundsChecker before upgrading to Windows 2000, BoundsChecker may not run.

RESOLUTION

Uninstall BoundsChecker before upgrading to Windows 2000, and then reinstall BoundsChecker. BoundsChecker should run correctly if you install it after upgrading to Windows 2000.
