SYMPTOMS

The FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions may cause 100 percent CPU utilization in the inetinfo process when form results are sent through e-mail to Microsoft Windows NT Mail 3.0 from the Internet Shopper LTD.

This problem also may occur with other Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers.

CAUSE

FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions cannot break out of a receive loop while it is receiving an SMTP response if a socket was closed unexpectedly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a different SMTP server. A free SMTP server is included in the Microsoft Windows NT Option Pack. To download the option pack, see the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
