SYMPTOMS
If SQL Server is installed on a computer, adding a performance counter in the Performance Monitor while SQL Server is not running generates the following events in the Event Log:
NOTE: The counter that you add does not need to be a SQL Server counter. The default Processor\% Processor Time counter logs the events.
The events can safely be ignored.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
