XADM: Events 2017 & 2014 Appear, Mail Flow Stops When PATROL Software Installed |

SYMPTOMS
When you install PATROL for Microsoft Windows NT Server by BMC, Inc., on a server running Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 3, the following events may begin appearing every 15 to 30 seconds in Event Viewer:
Event ID 2014:
Source: XCA
Type: Stop
Description: Unable to open exchange public information store. Unspecified error.
Event ID 2017:
Source: XCA
Type: Stop
Description: Unable to open exchange private information store.Unspecified error 0x80004005.
Also, Exchange Server services may begin experiencing errors and mail flow may stop.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when PATROL for Microsoft Windows NT Server interferes with Exchange Server services.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, stop the PATROL for Microsoft Windows NT Server service and disable it.
