Dr. Watson Error Message When Indexing Help ID: Q247675 The information in this article applies to: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SYMPTOMS When you click the Index tab for the first time in Windows 2000 Help, you may receive a Dr. Watson error message and the Help window may close. CAUSE This behavior can occur if the partition in which Windows 2000 is installed has less than 2 megabytes (MB) of free space. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, delete the Windows.chw file from the %SystemRoot%\Help folder. Do not click the Index tab again until you have created more free space in the partition in which Windows 2000 is installed. STATUS Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
