This article was previously published under Q247000

SYMPTOMS

When you start using Labtec LCS-1040 speakers on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional-based computer, the sound is barely audible even when you turn up the volume on the speakers.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the master volume and bass settings for the Labtec LCS-1040 speakers are set to only about 15 percent on the volume slider when you first plug them in and start them on a Windows 2000 Professional-based computer. Normally, the volume is set at 50 percent.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

MORE INFORMATION

To find the volume slider, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, click Entertainment, and then click Volume Control.
