When you use the subst command to associate a universal naming convention (UNC) path with a drive letter, you receive the following error message when you attempt to access the drive letter through My Computer or Microsoft Windows Explorer:

drive letter is not accessible.

To work around this behavior, use the net use command to map the drive letter to the UNC path.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
