SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to start one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Qdgw.dll or Prnedit.dll files are missing or damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.
Manually Register the Qdgw.dll and Prnedit.dll Files
To manually register the Qdgw.dll and Prnedit.dll files:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Home Publishing 2000\Qdgw.dll"
- When you receive the following confirmation message, click OK:
DllRegisterServer in qdgw.dll succeeded.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Home Publishing 2000\Prnedit.dll"
- When you receive the following confirmation message, click OK:
DllRegisterServer in prnedit.dll succeeded.
If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.
Rename and reinstall the Qdgw.dll and the Prnedit.dll files.
To rename and reinstall the Qdgw.dll and Prnedit.dll files:
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- In the Named box, type qdgw.dll prnedit.dll.
- In the Look in box, click My Computer. Make sure that the Include Subfolders check box is selected.
- Click Find Now.
- Right-click the Qdqw.dll file, and then click Rename.
- Type qdgw.old, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click the Prnedit.dll file, and then click Rename.
- Type prnedit.old, and then press ENTER.
- Close the Find: Files Named Qdgw.dll Prnedit.dll window.
- Reinstall the program.
