FIX: Creating a New Database User from Enterprise Manager May Fail with Error 16916

SYMPTOMS

When the default to local cursor option is set for a database, creating a new database user from Enterprise Manager may fail with the following cursor error:

Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQL State: 34000)
Error 16916: The Cursor with the name 'hCForEachLogin' does not exist.

WORKAROUND

Turn off the Default to Local Cursor dboption on the database that reports the error.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
