SYMPTOMS
When you try to run an X program, the following error message may appear:
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, run the X11 server. You may need to install the MS-Loopback Adapter.
MORE INFORMATION
You must run the X11 server in order to be able to run X programs. Type the following to see if it is properly set up:
echo $DISPLAY
If you are working on a stand-alone computer, or if you are not connected to an Internet Protocol (IP) network, you may need to install the MS-Loopback Adapter.
