SYMPTOMS

On a computer that has an Intel JN440-BX NLX motherboard, a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) adapter may be listed eight times in Device Manager, with an exclamation point next to each of the devices.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by an issue specific to the PCI riser card on Intel JN440-BX NLX motherboards. No PCI devices work in any of the add-on slots on the motherboard's riser card. PCI devices inserted in the riser card are listed eight times in Device Manager, but are inoperable.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that no PCI adapters are inserted in the riser card.
