SYMPTOMS
AutoShapes that you create in Word 2000 appear incorrect when they are opened in an earlier version of Word. The "open" AutoShapes are incorrectly displayed either as "closed" shapes or with a line that connects the shape together. This is most common with the shape types Scribble and Curve.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if you save the Word 2000 document as Rich Text Format (RTF), Word 6.0/95 RTF, or Word 6.0/95 format, and if the AutoShape is a non-closed shape--for example, a Scribble shape or a curved line.
NOTE: To access these shapes, click AutoShapes on the Drawing toolbar, and then click Lines.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
