OL2000: Upgrade from Exchange Client to Outlook Causes Encryption Failure

SYMPTOMS

Two people using Microsoft Exchange 5.0 Client are set up to send encrypted mail messages using 64-bit encryption. One user upgrades from Exchange 5.0 to Outlook 2000, and installs the 128-bit security patch. When this user attempts to open a saved encrypted message by importing the EPF file, the following error message displays:

The message could not be secured.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
