OL2000: Offline Synchronization May Not Complete When Upgrading

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Windows 95 SR1 computer is set up with Microsoft Exchange 5.0 Client, for "Offline Use with Synchronization." When you upgrade the Exchange Client to Outlook 2000 and attempt to synchronize, you receive the following error:

Errors in background synchronization. In most cases, further information is available in a sync.log in the Deleted Items folder. The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
