SUMMARY
Windows 2000 Terminal Services runs in one of two modes: Application Server or Remote Administration Server. This article describes how to determine which mode a Terminal Services server is using.

Application Server mode is synonymous with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, in that it serves programs to connected users. Remote Administration mode is a new feature in Windows 2000 Terminal Services that allows two administrative connections to any given server running Terminal Services.
To determine which mode a Terminal Services server is using:
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Administrative Tools.
- Click Terminal Services Configuration.
- Click Server Settings.
- Locate the Terminal server mode row in the right pane. The mode is listed in the Attributes column.
