Sometimes when you use Word as your e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook 2000, the central processing unit (CPU) usage of your computer system may increase to almost 100 percent, and there may be a lot of disk activity. This problem is most likely to occur when you have more than one e-mail message open at a time and are doing a lot of switching between open messages.

WORKAROUND

To temporarily work around this problem, turn off the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages option in Microsoft Outlook. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
