SYMPTOMS

If double-byte character set (DBCS) characters are used in a chat nickname to connect to an Exchange Server 5.5 chat server, the chat server extension filter can't get a correct DBCS nickname.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4.
