SYMPTOMS
When you save a document in Word 6.0/95 format from Word 2000, numbering or bulleting of heading paragraphs may be lost.
CAUSE
This happens when the numbering or the bullets were applied in one of the following ways:
- By clicking on the Numbering or Bullets button on the Format toolbar.
- By clicking on Bullets and Numbering on the Format menu and then selecting a numbering type on the Numbered tab or a bullet on the Bulleted tab.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

NOTE: The problem does not occur when heading numbering is applied by clicking on Bullets and Numbering on the Format menu and then selecting a numbering type on the Outline Numbered tab where the individual outline levels are assigned to the Heading styles. This is the preferred method of numbering headings in Microsoft Word 2000.
