SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use Microsoft Word 2000 as your e-mail editor with Microsoft Exchange Client version 5.0, you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft Exchange Forms Registry

The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator.

To set Word as your e-mail editor, start Exchange Client 5.0, click Options on the Tools menu, click the Mail Format tab in the Options dialog box, and then click to select the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box under Message format.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Exchange 5.0 client does not support Word 2000 as an e-mail editor.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do one of the following:

  • Select either the Word 95 or Word 97 option in Exchange Client 5.0 when you select Word as the default e-mail editor.

  • Use Microsoft Outlook 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 if you want to use Word 2000 as your e-mail editor.
