This article was previously published under Q236603

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade the FrontPage Server Extensions for UNIX to FrontPage 2000 sites that were previously used with FrontPage 98, the following error message occurs:

The top-level folder for web <Root Web> is a symbolic link and the 'FollowSymLinks' server configuration is not set.

The Frontpage.cnf file (located at /usr/local/frontpage/version4.0/) contains the line "FollowSymLinks:1." Newly created sites located in the same top-level directory work correctly, and if you use the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions, everything works correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
