SYMPTOMS

When you try to connect your Windows 98-based computer to a Microsoft Windows NT-based server with Microsoft distributed file system (Dfs) installed, the Windows 98 protect-mode redirector (Vredir.vxd) may stop responding. Also, network connectivity may be unavailable.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because an internal counter used by VRedir was decremented, causing Vredir.vxd to interpret that its connection resources were exhausted.
