SYMPTOMS

Some attributes may be displayed in the Membership Directory Manager (MDM) console plug-in with a red, wavy line underneath the value. If the attribute underlined is something crucial to login, for example the userPassword, that user may not be able to log in to the system.

CAUSE

This is normal behavior indicating an invalid syntax condition for the selected attribute.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

  • Edit the attribute so that it adheres to the constraints specified for that attribute:

    1. In the MDM, expand the ou=Members container.

    2. In the right window pane, double-click the member.

    3. Edit the attribute value.

    -OR-

  • Edit the constraints for the attribute, so the value is not in violation:

    1. In the MDM, expand the ou=Admin container.

    2. Expand the ou=Schema container.

    3. In the right window pane, double-click the specific attribute.

    4. Click the String Syntax tab and set the new value.
