XCON: Wrong Encoding of Extended Characters

SYMPTOMS

When you send a message through an X.400 Connector, and you select the "Remote Clients Support MAPI" check box and clear the "Allow MS Exchange content" check box, the recipient may receive altered characters in the display names if they originally contain extended characters. Both originator and recipient display names are affected.

Example: André as display name of recipient will arrive as Andr'e.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.
