SYMPTOMS
If you join a channel on a Microsoft Exchange Chat Service computer or change your nickname in a channel you have already joined, and you specify a nickname that is already being used, you are assigned a default nickname. If you attempt to change your nickname after you have already been assigned the default nickname and you specify another nickname that is already being used, the command may fail, and the server may end the connection unexpectedly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
