SYMPTOMS

When you send a link from Microsoft Internet Explorer, or use Send To to send a file from your hard disk drive, the mail message does not include your default signature. This occurs even though you have selected Use this signature by default on the Mail Format tab.

RESOLUTION

Compose the message in Outlook, or insert the signature after you create the message, but prior to sending.

To insert your signature in an open message:

  1. Position the insertion point at the location in the message body where you want the signature.
  2. On the Insert menu, point to Signature, and then click to select the signature you want to insert.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

If you open a Web page using Internet Explorer, and on the File menu, point to Send, and click Page by E-mail, or Link by E-mail, your default automatic signature is not inserted in the message. If you right-click a file from your hard disk drive, point to Send, and then click Mail Recipient, your default automatic signature is not inserted in the message.
