SYMPTOMS

When you exclude a page from publishing but you undo the check-out of the page, the page is still excluded from being published.

NOTE: If you remove source control from the web and publish it, the page continues to be excluded from being published.

CAUSE

FrontPage does not roll back changes made to meta information when you undo a check-out.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, use the appropriate method for your situation.

Check Out Page, Change the Property, and Check In Page

In some situations, you do not have the authority to remove source control for a web. In this case, you need to check out the page, change the property, and then check in the page. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Use document check-in and check-out check box on the General tab of the Web Settings dialog box.
  2. Right-click the page, and click Check Out.

  1. Right-click the page again, and click Properties.
  2. On the Workgroup tab, click to clear the Exclude this file when publishing the rest of the Web check box, and then click OK.
  3. Right-click the page and click Check In.

Remove Source Control and Change Property

In some situations, you have authority to remove source control for the web. In this case, you can remove the source control and change the property of the page. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Web Settings, and then click the General tab.
  2. Click to clear the Use document check-in and check-out check box, and then click OK.
  3. Right-click the page, and click Properties.
  4. On the Workgroup tab, click to clear the Exclude this file when publishing the rest of the Web check box, and then click OK.
