SYMPTOMS

When you request a read receipt for a message sent through an Exchange Server computer, you may experience either of the following symptoms:

  • If the message is sent through a gateway, the read receipt may not be sent.
  • If the message is sent through the Internet Mail Service, the read receipt is sent, but the To line may be blank.


RESOLUTION

Exchange Server 5.5

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server versions 5.0 and 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 2.
