SYMPTOMS
If a chat user connects to a MCIS 2.0 Chat Server computer and attempts to change their nickname, the nickname change is incorrectly allowed.
CAUSE
A logic problem incorrectly allowed the user to change their nickname.
RESOLUTION
Exchange Server 5.5

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 2.0. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.

After you install the new Chatsvc.exe file on the servers, you will need to add the following registry key to change the behavior so users will not be allowed to change their password. To do this, perform the following steps:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate the following key in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\ChatSvc\Parameters
On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
Value Name: DisableNickChange Data Type: REG_DWORD Value: 1- Quit Registry Editor.
