To check which version of the Microsoft VM is installed on your computer, type jview at a command prompt. All versions of the Microsoft VM are backwardly compatible with earlier versions of Internet Explorer. For example, Microsoft VM build 3186 runs on Internet Explorer versions 5, 4.x, and 3.x. All these updated Microsoft VMs provide support for Java Native Interface (JNI).
