SYMPTOMS
When you are creating a project using Visual InterDev 6.0, the following error might occur:

When trying to Open, Modify, or Save a file in an existing Web project, you receive the error:
CAUSE
This error occurs if Visual InterDev 6.0 is configured to use a proxy server and you are connecting to a Web server on your intranet. By default, Visual InterDev 6.0 uses the computer's system settings for its proxy settings (note: the system settings set in Internet Explorer).
RESOLUTION
Step-by-Step Procedures
- Open Visual InterDev 6.0, but do not attempt to create a project. Press Cancel when you are prompted to open or create a project.
- On the Tools menu, select Options.
- In the Options dialog box, click the plus sign next to Projects.
- Click Web Proxy Settings to select that item.
- Deselect the Use system settings check box.
- Delete any entries in the "HTTP proxy:" text box.
- Delete any entries in the "List of hosts without proxy (host:port,...):" text box.
- Select the Do not use proxy server for local (intranet) addresses check box.
- Click OK.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
