SYMPTOMS
Animated items in your PowerPoint presentation do not dim after they are animated. This problem can affect any of the following items in your presentation:
- Bulleted Lists
- AutoShapes
- Text Boxes
- Inserted Objects, such as Microsoft Graph
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you set the timing for the animated item to automatic. When you set animations to automatic, the Dim Effect needs a mouse click to start. If no mouse-click is initiated, the Dim Effect does not occur.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To temporarily work around this problem, change the animation timings for your animated items to a mouse click, and change the slide transition for that slide to automatic. The bullets now dim correctly, but all other animation timings are altered slightly.
NOTE: When you set a slide transition to automatic, all animation timings within that slide are given equal time intervals.
STATUS
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
