SYMPTOMS
Changes made to the Set Security Options and Change Network Support options of SQL Server Setup are not recognized by SQL Server when SQL Server is set up as a Symmetric Virtual Server (SVS). Additionally, changes made to security with SQL Enterprise Manager also fail to work in this scenario.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do the following:
- Remove the SVS configuration.
- Use SQL Server Setup to change your security options or network support as desired.
- Set up SVS again.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server, Enterprise Edition, version 6.5.
