SYMPTOMS
When you uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft Outlook Express, addresses that you previously added in the Windows Address Book (WAB) for Outlook Express may no longer exist.
CAUSE
You originally installed Outlook Express on a computer that was running Microsoft Internet Mail and News.
MORE INFORMATION
When Outlook Express is installed on a computer that is running Internet Mail and News:
- A new address book file is created.
- The information in the old address book is imported into the new address book file.
- The old address book is renamed from <Username>.wab to <path>\<Username>.wab.ie3.
If you uninstall Outlook Express the Outlook Express <Username>.wab is removed and the <path>\<Username>.wab.ie3 address book is renamed to <Username>.wab which contains only the addresses that you had for Internet Mail and News. Addresses that you added to the Outlook Express address book are no longer available.
