SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you change the duration of a task that has one or more resources assigned to it, the work contour of a resource assigned to the task might not be correct.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you change the duration of a task that has a Task Type of Fixed Work and has resources assigned with a Work Contour other than Flat, such as a Bell or a Custom contour.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, manually correct the contour to reflect the appropriate values of work.
To change work values for a specific time period during which the resource works on the task, follow these steps:
- On the View Bar, click Task Usage.
NOTE: Resources are grouped under the tasks to which they are assigned.
- On the timescale portion of the view, if needed, change the individual work values for the resource(s) assigned to the task.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
