SYMPTOMS

When you view your Contacts folder in Microsoft Outlook 98, using the Address Card view, each contact may appear to have your e-mail name.

CAUSE

The Address Card view is corrupted. This may be a result of upgrading over a beta version of Outlook 98.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue use the /cleanviews command line switch.

To run the /cleanviews command-line switch, follow these steps:

  1. Quit Outlook.
  2. Click the Start button, and click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type Outlook, a space, and the command-line switch.

    Example: Outlook /cleanviews

  4. Click OK.

When you reopen Outlook, the Address Card view will display the correct e- mail name for each contact.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem only occurs when viewing your Contacts folder with the Address Card view. Other views show the correct e-mail address for each contact.
