SUMMARY

This article describes how to manage the sample Microsoft Outlook 98 forms on your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft provides Sample Groupware Applications on the Microsoft Web site that demonstrate how to use Outlook to meet business and personal needs. These samples contain customized forms that reside in a Personal Folders file (.pst).

NOTE: The Internet Mail Only installation is not a Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI) program and does not use Profiles. For this reason, the Setup program for the Sample Applications does not automatically add a .pst file to the Outlook 98 Folder List.

Adding an Outlook Sample Application Folder

To add a Sample Groupware Application for use with Outlook Internet Mail Only installation, follow these steps.

  1. Quit Outlook if it is running.
  2. Double-click the Setup icon for the sample you want to install. Click Yes.

NOTE: If you are prompted to replace newer versions of files that Setup is attempting to install, click Yes to keep the newer version. Sample Applications from the Microsoft Web site are installed in the following location:

    C: Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

  3. Start Outlook.
  4. If the Folder List is not visible, on the View menu, click Folder List.
  5. On the File menu, point to Open and click Other Outlook File (.pst).
  6. Click to select the .pst file you want and click OK.

The sample Application folder will be added to the Folder List view.

Removing the Sample Forms Folder from the Folder List

To remove the folder containing Sample Application items from the Folder List, in the Folder List, right-click the Sample Applications Personal Folder to be removed and click Disconnect on the shortcut menu.

Removing Sample Application Items from Your Computer

To identify and remove the sample application Personal Folder from your hard disk, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the Personal Folder, click Properties and click Advanced.
  2. In the Path box, note the path and name of the file that contains your sample forms.
  3. On the Windows Taskbar, click Start, point to Find and click Files Or Folders.
  4. In the Named box, type the name of the .pst file that contains your sample forms. Click to select the Include Subfolders check box, and click Find Now.
  5. In the Name column, right-click the .pst file and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
